A life time of dedication to happiness and health
Edward Southwick, Certified Family Life Educator and author of “The 10 Habits of Happy People”, has devoted his entire adult life to researching, learning and teaching about happiness (and health).
Edward's passion for teaching happiness developed because of how unhappy he had been through age 27 (partly because of hereditary traits and habits of being very sensitive, shy, overly analytical and serious minded). Although he was able to graduate from college in just 2 and 1/2 years and was quite successful in real estate, he was not happy. He realized that neither his intelligence nor money was making him happy. So he went on a quest to discover how to change.
After 17 years of reading dozens of happiness books, interviewing 50 exceptionally happy people (in America and Japan) and applying what he had learned, he became dramatically more happy (and much healthier too). Then, after writing his book, he gave happiness seminars all over Japan, appeared frequently on national TV and even had his own weekly radio spot. Since then he he has taught thousands of people how to greatly increase their happiness and health.
In addition, Edward has been a business owner, real estate broker, and business consultant for over 35 years, and is able to offer his varied experience in applying powerful happiness concepts/methods in real world situations (and business too).
Edward believes that everyone should have the huge advantage of understanding the happiness thinking, attitudes and actions of the happiest people. He also believes that everyone should have the mind set, knowledge and healthy habits to work towards "Half of age Super Health". He has researched and experimented on himself since he was 27, and has been able to basically maintain the body of a healthy 30 year old for over 30 years (still running close to a 5 minute mile and 15 pull ups etc.).

He also offers amazingly effective information on how to find and develop the relationship of your life.
Edward moved to Japan in the 1980s and has spent almost 20 total years living there while operating several businesses including an English school, business consulting and happiness classes. He also acts as a real estate broker from time to time and sold almost $50 million during one period in 1989/1990 (although he notes that even with the many large and regular $100,000 plus commissions he didn't feel happy or satisfed at that time-- not until more seriously following his own happiness program shortly after).
Edward also had his own 15 minute weekly radio program (Edward's Anything Goes English) and appeared as a semi-regular commentator on an very popular prime time television show called "The Strange Habits of the Japanese" (Koko ga Hen da yo Nihongin). He did many speeches and classes on happiness including regular seminars across Japan for San Marie, the 2nd largest match making service in Japan. He also wrote a column on relationships for Lycos Japan along with other Japanese celebrities which then became the most popular Japanese dating/relationship site in Japan.
Now having moved back to the United States and mostly finished with his other businesses, Edward is passionately devoting most of his time to teaching these powerful life improving happiness/health concepts and methods.
Below are just a few of the many newspapers and magazines he appeared in Japan (most of the others were in Japanese).
